Windows 10 Recommended

Last year we reported on the free Windows 10 upgrade offer from Microsoft. At the time we cautioned businesses to leave it alone for a while to let the operating system mature. Since then a lot has changed and PCM now highly recommends Windows 10 for all business computers.

Microsoft pushed out a fairly substantial update to Windows 10 back in November, on top of the continuous patches and updates being pushed each month. While the major computer manufacturers are still shipping commercial systems with Windows 7 Professional, we think it’s high time to move beyond this operating system and time to embrace the new more secure and feature rich Windows 10 Professional. It should also be noted that Microsoft has considered Windows 7 to be in “extended support” since January 2015.

Keep in mind that Microsoft is offering a free upgrade software license to all computers that have legal copies of Windows 7, 8 or 8.1. This free offer ends on July 29, 2016, after which the Windows 10 Pro software will cost $250.

While the software license is free and the installation process has been simplified compared to previous releases, it still does take some time to upgrade. Depending on the age of the computer and the hardware/software in use there is still the potential for issues with the new operating system. If you are concerned at all about how the upgrade may go it might be best to have one of our technicians look after it for you.
